- On first launch, choose Get Started. In New, choose an audio or video file. You can include an existing subtitle file.
- Choose a target language, SRT or VTT, and an output folder.
- Start processing. If models are needed, the app shows the download before you continue.
Python, MLX and audio decoding tools are included. You do not need Homebrew or a separate development environment.
Requirements and downloads
Litho is designed for Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 15 or later. The app selects models based on the Mac’s memory configuration. Models require an initial internet download and additional disk space. Processing uses local media and models.
If a download is interrupted, return to the model download and continue. Check available disk space and your network connection. The app verifies model files before use.
Processing and exported files
Closing the window keeps queued work available in the menu bar. Quitting stops processing. Pause and Continue preserve available progress; processing a file again starts over.
Some audio encodings are not supported. Automatic recognition and translation may make mistakes; check subtitles before publishing or using them in important contexts.
Removing a record and deleting its exported subtitles are separate choices. Resetting Litho removes its local records and models but keeps your original media and exported subtitles.
Purchases and refunds
For the Mac App Store edition, purchases and app updates are handled by Apple. For a billing issue or refund request, use Apple’s purchase support. For a problem inside Litho, email the developer above.
Privacy and open source
Your media and subtitle text stay on your Mac during processing. Model downloads still make network requests. See the privacy notice for details. Third-party licenses are available in Settings. Corresponding-source archives and rebuild instructions are included in the application bundle.
